SFdP Church honors CCIS for 125th Anniversary, Living Past Presidents and its Members
The San Francesco di Paola Church honored the Christopher Columbus Italian Society (CCIS) to kick off their 125th Year of Service to the Community Celebration with a Mass Celebrated by Fr. Tony Vilano, and a Reception at the CCIS Hall catered by Luciano’s Italian Restaurants.
The Church was packed with people as CCIS President Sam Guido and CCIS Past President Jay Pantusa honored all the living Past Presidents of the CCIS, who filed into the church in procession following Fr. Tony and sat in the first pews, wearing suits and red rose boutonnieres for the special occasion.
Mr. Louis Pantusa, who celebrated his 95th birthday this week, was honored with the first CCIS Lifetime Achievement Award for his service as Past President and hard work at more of the CCIS Spaghetti Dinners than anyone can count throughout his long lifetime.
“It was wonderful to see the Church so full”, said CCIS President Sam Guido, “and to see the Italian Community come together for such a historic event for San Antonio. My dad would have been proud to be a part of this day to celebrate our Church, our Society, and our Italian Heritage.”
